All Pets Hospital was built in 1968 by Dr. Frank Miller, who obtained local celebrity status in the 60s and 70s based on the popularity of his San Francisco Chronicle column Wonderful World of Animals (lauded in the early 70s as the most widely syndicated pet column in the world).

Upon Dr. Millers retirement in 1980, operations were first passed on to Dr. Frederick W. Miller (no relation) and then in 1985 to Dr. Daniel Hershberger who immediately went to work remodeling the hospital.

Since then, Dr. Hershberger has made continuous improvements by expanding the practice to include exotic medicine with the arrival of Dr. Alex Herman in 1997 and Dr. Nicola Gillespie (nee Melliar-Smith) in 2005. In 1998 the hospital converted the top floor unit into a separate exotic ward, complete with the first hot room in any Bay Area veterinary hospital.

In December 2006, All Pets Hospital became accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association. AAHA-accredited practices are truly distinctive in providing the highest quality care for pets. AAHA standards are recognized around the world as the benchmark for quality care in veterinary medicine.
